I am Malatji Matema Jacobeth, a grade 3 educator at Diopong Primary School in Gamakanye village Limpopo (Polokwane). I taught a multiple of grades and quite a few different subjects, social sciences ,arts and culture, lifeskill grade 6-7. In foundation phase, I taught Sepedi, Maths, English and life skill grade 1-3. Presently I am teaching grade 3.
As our schools is inclusive, I therefore cater for all learners with love, regardless their learning abilities. I have a high level of responsibility, commitment, dedication and originality as well as leadership skills. I served as the secretary of the music club and the treaurer of the sports club. As a Soulbuddyz Facilitator, I used research to address challenges that learners, and community, come across on a day to day basis. I was an innitiator and project leader on our perma culture project which aims to alleviate poverty for vulnerable children. In 2009-2010 I worked voluntarily as a supervisor for the Khari Gude Literacy Mass Campaign project. I am a SASAMS data compiler for my school and started computer lessons to equip the foundation phase learners with ICT skills. I do all duties assigned to me with passion and enthusiasm and always go extra mile. I love sports, served as a basketball and shut put coach and was also elected as the basketball secretary for the Mankweng cluster. I was a also a music conductor. During my spare time, I do aerobics exercises, play Scrabble, read magazine and newspapers and go to church. My project is mainly about teaching foundation phase learners Maths, using technology to transform their negative attitude towards the this subject. I have used a projector in the classroom and took learners to the computer room for computer literacy lessons. I started working on the project and teamed up with my Torento colleagues. As I lost my mother around May, I expereinced many challenges in submitting my project, while having to make funeral arrangements. I also had to content with network and password problems. I have received national awards from Soulbuddyz (Soul City) as well as the 2010 supervisor award from Khari Gude Mass Literacy Campaign. In September 2016 I got the National award in ICT and am delighted to be a ISPA Superteacher 2017. Connect with her on:
